If you are looking for a gourmet Mexican salad recipe, which you can make in less than fifteen minutes, this recipe, is great. The basis of the salad is a basic mixture of lettuce, cheese, turkey, tomatoes and avocado and the papaya seed dressing really brings it to life. The salad is colorful and healthy and this recipe makes enough to serve two people, so double it, or triple it if you have more mouths to feed.
Avocado is a quintessential Mexican ingredient and its rich, creamy flavor and soft texture transforms a basic salad into something sumptuous. Avocado is widely used in Mexican food recipes, such as guacamole and other Mexican salad recipes. It goes well with the cheese, turkey, and tomatoes in this Mexican chef salad. The papaya seed dressing combines mustard, oil, vinegar, green onions and more for a delightfully unique dressing. Papaya is a tropical fruit and it features in Mexican dessert recipes as well as savory ones. It goes beautifully with the other ingredients to make this wonderful salad dressing and you can keep leftover dressing for a couple of days in the refrigerator.
Serve this Mexican chef salad as an impressive appetizer or for lunch. You can make it very quickly because there is no cooking involved and not much preparation either, apart from making the dressing and chopping the avocado. For a more Mexican feel, you might like to swap the Swiss cheese for queso fresco but it does go really well with the turkey so you might like to get the Mexican flavors from the avocado, tomatoes and dressing and leave the other ingredients as they are, for something of a fusion style salad recipe.
