Best Beef Chili Recipe with Chunks of Beef and Spices

This is one of the nicest Mexican recipes if you want something warming and satisfying. The beef in this Mexican food recipe is combined with garlic, spices and more, to bring out the wonderful flavor. This beef chili curry goes nicely with boiled rice and a crisp side salad.

Keep an eye on the beef towards the end of the cooking time because it can get dried out. If you like spicy food, which is aromatic rather than fiery hot, you will really enjoy this example of tasty Mexican cooking. Use stewing beef or braising steak for this Mexican beef recipe because more expensive cuts will dry out and go tough.

Mexican Beef Chili Curry

Ingredients -

½ lb stewing beef, in 1-inch cubes
2 onions, chopped
5 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon ground coriander
3 green chilies, slit lengthwise
3 tablespoons oil
¾ tablespoon red chili powder
½ tablespoon ground turmeric
Salt, to taste
½ inch fresh root ginger, chopped
Red chilies, to garnish
Boiled white rice to serve
Salad to serve

Preparation:

Put the onions, garlic, and chopped ginger into a blender and grind to a fine paste. Add the ground spices and mix well. Smear the cubed beef with half the paste and sprinkle salt over it. Leave to marinate for 15 minutes and set the rest of the paste aside.

Heat half the oil in a heavy skillet and add the rest of the onions and the beef.

Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon and set to one side.

Add the rest of the oil to the pan and stir fry the green chilies with the rest of the paste for 5 minutes over a medium heat.

Put the beef and onions back in the pan with ½ cup of water. Cook for 3 minutes over a high heat.

Add some salt and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring now and then. Add more water if it seems to be drying out.

When the beef is cooked, serve it with boiled rice, salad and some fresh red chilies on the side.

(Serves 2)
